Alien Flight School Program (AFSP)

Students who seek the following training will have to enroll in the Alien Flight Student Program(AFSP) through Universal Air Air Academy and the Transportation Security Administration(TSA).   1. Flight Training towards an "Initial FAA Pilot Certificate;" and
  2. Flight Training towards an "Instrument Rating;" and
  3. Flight Training towards a "Multi–Engine Rating."

What is the enrollment process with Universal Air Academy?

  • Create an user name and password through the AFSP website.
  • Once user name and password are created, log in and submit background information and flight training requests. Student / applicant will be required to select the appropriate "Training Course ID". Please, contact Universal Air Academy for the Course ID, to ensure you are choosing the correct course.
  • Once the application is submitted, Universal Air Academy will be notified by the TSA and will need to validate your training requests.
  • Once validated, student / applicant will be notified to pay an application fee of $130. The TSA fee will need to be paid online, via the TSA website.
  • After the application fee is paid, the student / applicant will be notified by the TSA to submit fingerprints(typically, takes 7 to 10 business days). The students must go to a TSA approved location for fingerprinting.
  • Once the fingerprinting has been processed, the final approval to begin flight training will be notified via email to the student / applicant and Universal Air Academy.
  • Upon arriving at Universal Air Academy, the student will have to submit passport and visa information to Universal Air Academy.
  • Universal Air Academy will have to take a digital photo of student and upload it to the TSA and the entire process is completed.
